Istria and Kvarner Sailing Region
Sailing in the North Adriatic includes sailing around Istria - Croatia's largest peninsula, Kvarner region and northern Croatian coast and islands. The most famous yachting destinations are towns of Pula, Porec, Rovinj, Umag, Opatija, National Park Brijuni and Kvarner islands of Krk (Croatia's largest island), Cres, Losinj, Rab and Pag.
Istra is known for its small towns, attractive summer resorts on the coast, rich cultural and entertainment offers (film and music festivals, concerts, sport tournaments etc.), quality wines, truffles and notable historical heritage. Kvarner region is mostly an island region and it is attractive for sailing and cruising. In this area, there are city of Rijeka - the largest Croatian port, National Park Risnjak and Opatija (Croatia's oldest tourist resort, a destination of the aristocracy). The most frequent sailing destination is Brijuni islands, a national park and attractive tourist resort. The North Adriatic is attractive for sailing people not only for its natural beauty, but also because it has a great yacht charter offer and many smaller or larger marinas and yacht charter companies.
